Summary Context

This study was written by a scientist who was hired to monitor the CDC’s chickenpox (varicella) rollout. He resigned 8 years later in protest of what he deemed scientific fraud. CDC combined metrics inappropriately to hide signals. They also studies populations that barely received any shingles vaccine and claimed that was proof that the vaccine did not drive incidence in the broader population.

This authoritative review from a CDC insider outlines the deceptions, statistical tricks, lies about vaccine cost, scientific fraud, and false claims made by CDC on multiple levels.

Abstract or Results, Key Passages

“Trends in vaccine efficacy were masked by averaging varicella vaccine efficacy over several years instead of stratifying efficacy by year. High HZ incidence rates among children that had had natural varicella were masked by reporting a single mean of a bimodal distribution that included children that were administered the varicella vaccine. While CDC researchers initially opposed and criticized the Research Analyst’s methodology and calculation of childhood HZ incidence rates, eventually they used similar methodology and found similar outcomes.”
