This study looked at over 2 million residents of Catalonia, Spain, and found not only no benefit from pneumococcal vaccination, but even higher rates of pneumonia.
Comments
This large epidemiological retrospective study looked at the effectiveness of pneumococcal vaccination and found it had no beneficial effect on rates, and even resulted in higher chances of acquiring pneumococcol pneumonia.

“This study did not find evidence of the clinical effectiveness of PPsV23/PCV13 vaccination in preventing the outcomes measured at population-based level. At present, new extended-valency, PCVs (PCV15/PCV20/PCV21) have been marketed for using in adults and, logically, vaccines’ effectiveness must be re-evaluated in the coming years.”
