The reported mortality spike in New York City in spring 2020 set the stage for the draconian policies that swept the nation. But what do the data from NYC tell us about the event? Covid researcher Jessica Hockett takes a deep look into the numbers – which don’t add up.

Jessica Hockett, PhD, is an independent researcher focused on COVID events in early 2020, with an emphasis on the New York City death spike. For over 20 years, Jessica was in the K12 education sector, as a middle school teacher, online graduate instructor, and consultant to schools, agencies, and non-profits. Her publications include numerous articles, reports, and three books.
Since the WHO pandemic declaration, Jessica has used her investigative skills to push against government mandates, censorship, and false claims about COVID-19.
In May 2020, she created a Twitter account under the pen name Emma Woodhouse and gained a following by directly challenging illegal orders & official COVID narratives in Chicago and Illinois using public data, incisive questions, and common sense. The account was suspended twice before being restored in December 2022. A number of her tweets are featured in Team Reality: Fighting the Pandemic of the Uninformed. Her article about the second suspension is cited in a recent amicus brief in the Supreme Court case Murthy v. Missouri.
After homeschooling her two children in the 2020-21 academic year, Jessica assisted Liberty Justice Center with media and data on cases the firm brought against vaccine mandates. She also produced two studies though The National Opportunity Project – one on federal COVID dollars for private schools and the other on DEI hiring practices in public school districts.
Other COVID-era endeavors Jessica is proud of include uncovering the University of Illinois’ false claims to an FDA EUA, calling out the CDC’s bad data on COVID-19 deaths among children, and testifying as a data analyst in a vaccine mandate arbitration case. From 2020-2022, Jessica was affiliated with the advocacy group Rational Ground, founded by Justin Hart. In 2023, Jessica joined the international organization PANDA and has been fortunate to produce articles with colleagues therein who share her passion for the truth behind the COVID event.
